Limited Product Offers

When a retailer offers a limited time only deal or an offer to sell a limited product, you may be able to get a great price, if you act fast. Before you buy the product, you need to know why the product is offered at a discount.

Sometimes, retailers offer a limited product sale in order to get rid of products they will no longer carry or offer. If the product you buy is sold in a discount or warehouse store, these limited product offers often represent the balance of the inventory owned by a manufacturer.  By lowering the price, the manufacturer can offer a wholesale lot to a big box store or a warehouse store. The warehouse store then sells off the old product and makes a profit. But the consumer should be aware that the product may no longer be supported by the manufacturer and/or parts for the product may no longer be available. 

When an automobile or computer is offered in a limited time only sale or is available in limited supply, it can also mean that it is time for the manufacturer to release the new annual line of products. If you buy during a limited product offering or a limited time offer you may be buying a product that will lose significant value as soon as the new product is launched. If you are buying the product with the intention of reselling it to make a profit, you may want to think twice about the purchase. No one will want to buy an older model from you if the new models include increased function or features.  

Sometimes manufacturers or retailers will sell a product in a limited offering because the company is going out of business. If the product is expensive or requires service or parts, you need to be sure you can get service for the item from some other vendor before you buy the product.  

You can leverage limited time only sales and limited product sales if you know what you are buying and what the value will be after the purchase. These deals can be impressive but you have to use common sense when you buy or you may be left holding the bag.
